MINDS IN SYNC
Often the communication between members of a lion pride is not audible or visible, and often it's as though they can read each other's minds as they spring into active
THE CHIEF
When a big Bull Elephant lumbers towards you, you have no option than to feel incredibly small and insignificant. These animals are powerful, and yet so vulnerable, as their tusks are poached for their ivory.

VANTAGE POINT
A Giraffe is a gentle giant, but can produce a kick strong enough to kill a lion with ease. These beautiful animals, due to their immense height, are also good indicators of the position of predators, as they can see them approaching from long distances away

CRISS-CROSS
Whilst giraffes are mostly gentle giants, fighting, or "necking" occurs within the journey to establish the social hierarchy , and bouts can be pretty brutal, sometimes resulting in serious injury.

STRIPES ON STRIPES
Zebra's stripes are both beautiful and functional. Every animal's stripes are unique, just like our fingerprints. Their exact function is unknown, but it is suspected that it breaks the silhouette of the individual animals in the eyes of predators, so as to dazzle them.

SIBLINGS
Family Bonds in an African Elephant Herd are always strong. A lot of research has been done into the advanced emotional intelligence of these beautiful animals. Unfortunately, problem herds have been identified in certain areas due to the matriarchs being poached for their tusks, thus resulting in reckless undisciplined younger elephants running riot. Projects of then re-introducing older elephants into younger herds have yielded good results in this area, but it does stress yet another impact of the poaching of this highly intelligent animal

WIDE-EYED STARE
Pearl-spotted Owlets are ferocious predators for their size. Their very large attitude compared to this small size makes them one of my favourite birds. this print is available as a set of 3 as well, please enquire for the remainder of the set.

GRACEFUL GIANT
African Elephants are the landscapers of the bush, as they carve paths through the landscape, pushing over trees as they go. they do form an essential service by fertilisimg ingested seeds in their dung and depositing them in their new destination. It is a true pity that these beautiful creatures are so heavily poached for their tusks

BASKING
On hot summer's days, Vultures can often be found on the sandy banks of rivers, cleaning themselves in the water. Sunbathing serves two purposes, the first and most obvious being to dry themselves off from their bath in the river, but secondly to get rid of parasites who will leave the feathers as they cannot tolerate the heat of the midday sun. It does make for a great photo.

STAND OUT
Butterflies sometimes are often overlooked on the search for bigger things on safari. But once one takes the time to really take interest in these fascinating insects, they do seem to stand out against the bush background. This Grass Jewel Blue takes a drink from a mud crack in a dry waterhole.
